Federal Council adopts Message on Social Security Agreement with Argentina
At its meeting on May 14, 2025, the Federal Council submitted the message for the approval of the Agreement on Social Security between Switzerland and Argentina to Parliament. The agreement coordinates the old-age, survivors', and disability insurance systems of the contracting states and, in particular, governs the payment of pensions abroad.
Switzerland has already concluded agreements with Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil in South America. The agreement with Argentina was signed on May 27, 2024. In order for it to enter into force, it must first be approved by the parliaments of the contracting states.
